Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #289

Can't believe I missed posting in all of October!  A super, super busy month with workshops, a sick kid, and travel.  But things are kinda slowing down and getting a bit more back to normal so happily, I got to play along with this week's sketch from Atlantic Hearts!

Using the super bright and playful "Oh What Fun!" paper collection, I decided I wanted to try and add a few more layers and "bits" to my card for a change. The fa la la, pink trees, and green plaid are all zip strips! and the "very merry" is from the PML cards in the paper collection.

The "Christmas" is from the City Sidewalks Cricut Collection (retired) cut out in Willow and the snowflakes are from the You are Here Cricut Collection.  A bit of Silver Shimmer Trim, a clear sparkle and a few swipes of the Clear Shimmer Brush and my very playful, festive card is complete!

Thank you for stopping by and I truly appreciate your comments.  I hope I have inspired you to play along w…

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #283

Didn't know if I was going to get this card done! I've had a tummy bug since the weekend and it has me feeling a little low.  For this week's sketch from Atlantic Hearts, I decided I wanted to try and really follow the sketch and thought the 'Tis the Season Paper Collection would be a good compliment.  Honestly, I'm still not 100% happy with this card but I wanted to participate.

I decided to use a retired Colonial White card base to soften and warm up the tones of the card.  I find Colonial White really brings out gold and green tones.

As mentioned I used the 'Tis the Season Paper Packet and the sentiment is from the Tis the Season - Cardmaking which I stamped in Sapphire Ink to bring out the touches of Sapphire in the patterned paper.  I then mounted the sentiment onto Sapphire cardstock and used Fern cardstock to mount my patterned paper and to create the pinecone accent which can be found in the Cricut Artistry Collection

The super cute bow from the Cri…

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #281

September has arrived and that means getting ready for my annual Christmas card workshops!  Busy, busy time of year!  For this weeks AHSC I decided that the sketch would make a lovely quick Christmas card that my crafty friends would find useful in the workshops.

Recently the bulk paper from the "Stargazer" paper collection was on Clearance and I got some with the idea of using the awesome distress red stripe paper somewhere in my Christmas Card workshop cause, Look at it!  It's perfect! and it worked really well with the black "holly" paper from this years  'Tis the Season.  The sentiment is from the 'Tis the Season - Cardmaking stamp set and I stamped it in New England Ivy ink.  I added the Red Glitter Paper base and the Cricut cut leaves are from the Cricut Artistry Collection (retired). To bring my card all together I sponge distress my white card base and the white stamping base in New England Ivy ink.

A quick and easy card but I really like the s…

Atlantic Hearts #279

Can you believe we are in the last week of August!  So much going on and I almost forgot to do this weeks project for Atlantic Hearts!  Good thing I put it on a list cause this week is all about lists!

Using the Beautiful Friendship Papers (so sad they retire in a few days!) I quickly did up this super cute and very pretty card.  I love using the picture my life cards that come with the paper packets on my cards and this one has the perfect sentiment for this bright and cheerful card!

The Cricut cut teacup is from the You Are Here and the flowers are from Flower Market.  I did a bit of Shimmer Brush in Bashful (currently on Clearance!) and the cotton ribbon in white added just enough texture to tie the card altogether.

For this card, I also deployed the old school technique of inking the edges of my papers with a sponge to soften the edges and add to the continuity of the card.

Thank you for stopping by and I truly appreciate your comments. I hope I have inspired you to come play along…

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #277

Summer!  It is the middle of August and time just keeps getting away from me. So much I want to do and just not enough time in the day, add in the extreme heat and forest fires and it has been an interesting couple of weeks.

For this weeks AHSC I once again pulled out the Fresh Air Collection.  I just LOVE these papers and cannot believe they retire at the end of the month. In addition to the Fresh Air papers, I used the lovely stamp set and the bronze sequins from the Workshop Your Way In My Heart Cardmaking Kit. The little branch is from the Cricut Flower Market Collection and it is cut out on Juniper cardstock (which is also retiring at the end of the month!) I stamped my sentiment and the corner frames in Pewter Ink.
Quick and done!  I love when a card comes together with little fuss.  I hope I have inspired you to play along with us at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Happy Crafting!

Christmas in July!

For this weeks Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge I decided to do some "Christmas in July"! This card is a mix of current, retired, and soon to be retired products from Close To My Heart.
Current products are the beautiful Fresh Air patterned papers, the Pewter cardstock, and Silver Sequins.  The retired products are the Wood Grain embossing folder used on the Pewter Cardstock (along with a little light sanding) and the Poppy Twine (which can still be found in the Clearance section of my shopping website!).

The soon to be retired... the Poppy and Juniper cardstock that I used to cut out my sentiment and the accent branch.  I bet you are saying WHAT! Poppy and Juniper are retiring!!!  I know, they have long been favorites of mine too but don't panic, I am sure the colours that are replacing them are going to be gorgeous.  The Cricut cuts are; Merry Christmas  - Artiste (retired) and for the Pine Needle Branch - Flower Market.

Thank you for stopping by and I truly appreciat…

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #271

Life has a funny way of making you take a break even when you do not intend to take one.  The past several months have been a bit of a rollercoaster ride and well, I had to step off for a few weeks and just concentrate on family and other commitments. Happily, it is summer and school is out for my son and in between all the summer fun we have planned, I am spending time in the craft room!

For this week's sketch from Atlantic Hearts I decided to use the super bright and fun papers from the Central Park paper packet and after playing around for about 10 minutes I realized I was recreating the beautiful artwork from page 39 of the Seasonal Expressions 2!  Inspiration can come from so many places!

The hot air balloon and it's sentiment are from the PML cards that are found in the paper packet and I did trim it down to better fit my card.  I decided to keep this card really clean and simple adding just a bit of gold shimmer trim and a few of the small Central Park Sequins, I LOVE t…

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #263

May!  This year is just flying by and the newest Seasonal Expressions from CTMH has been released.  It is full of crafty goodness (of course) and I am in love with one of the collections called Fresh Air.  It is just full of a West Coast Woodsy vibe and I cannot wait to make a ton of projects with these papers.

I know I typically make cards but I also like to create "pocket cards" for Picture My Life Scrapbooking.  This is a quick fun way of getting those memories and pictures off the computer and into your scrapbook without the labour of creating full scrapbook pages.  It is a ton of fun and very satisfying...

So for this weeks AHSC I decided to make a quick pocket card to go with some of the bazillion  "walk in the woods and camping" photos that I have to yet print!

I made this card on a 4x6 base of Kraft Paper using papers from the Fresh Air paper packet, the stamping was done in Espresso Ink and yes, that is second generation stamping with the trees! and the st…

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #261

I'm back!  Sorta...  I was in a car accident just shy of a month ago and well, it has really impacted my life.  I didn't think I was that injured etc but my poor knees and hips are just not happy.  I have spent a ton of time lately literally laying in bed with ice packs on the angry joints and watching TV.  I AM SO BORED but sitting/standing/and walking are not very fun and pain is so distracting, it really makes your brain not work!

Anyways, today.  Today I am spending a few hours in the craft room and creating something!  With the current Seasonal Expressions booklet finishing at the end of the month I wanted to create something quick and pretty with one of the paper packets that is retiring.  I choose Chelsea Gardens, this pack is just so lovely and has been so popular!  I loved this watering can (which is on one of the PML cards from this collection) and I cut it down so that I could mount it on the patterned paper and  Sapphire Cardstock.  The pretty blue/green watercolou…

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #255

Spring! We had a sunny weekend and living on the wet coast that means Spring has rolled in in all its allergy-inducing glory!  People were outside gardening, riding motorcycles, and firing up the BBQs while little kids learned how to ride those Christmas bikes in the beautiful if slightly chilly sunshine.  It's totally raining today but we had a great weekend.

For this week's sketch from Atlantic Hearts, I knew I wanted to use the very pretty Make Waves paper packet and try to work a little outside the box, just a little.  So picking up on the flower and sea star theme I found this super cute seastar/starfish border from the Cricut Artistry Collection which I cut out in Lagoon Cardstock.  I then added a few sea stars from the Cricut Flower Market and You are Here Collections.  I love that the center of the "pine flower" cut (which I cut out on Bashful Glitter Paper) totally looks like a seastar and I could use it as an accent on my border.  The "Happy Birthday&…

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #253

For this week's sketch from Atlantic Hearts, I decided that I wanted to make a more "masculine" card given that I have been using a lot of flowers lately!  Digging through my stash I pulled out the Basic Fundamentals paper collection and went for the "browns" instead of the "greys".  I then paired it with Glacier, Sweet Leaf, Fern, and Pacifica cardstock to make this quick and happy, birthday card.
I choose glacier cardstock as my base and embossed it with the now retired stripe embossing folder, I then lightly sanded it in a few random areas to give it a bit more texture and show the white core of the paper. (Sanding kits are currently on clearance!). The presents with their coordinating bow are cut out from the Cricut Flower Market Collection.  I made a quick tag for my sentiment which can be found in the Stargazer-Cardmaking Stamp Set and I stamped it using Pacifica ink.  A few bitty and regular sparkles along with a few Enamel Green Triangles (cur…

Winner, Winner!

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner!  To celebrate the 250th sketch at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge several of us on the design team decided to offer prizes to those who joined us for that week's challenge.  With the help of my super helpful son, I did the old school put all the numbers in a basket and draw one.  I tried to do a video of him pulling the winning number but I seem to be technically challenged today so a picture is gonna have to do!

Congratulations to entry #6 WJC.
And your prize?? The lovely Close to My Heart Stamp of the Month for February, Sunny Thoughts! Thank you for playing along with us at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge and Happy Crafting!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch #251

For reasons unknown, this weeks card for Atlantic Hearts was a struggle!  I love the sketch and had a vision right away but struggled to make it happen, so frustrating. This card is sorta what I had in mind, it turned out super cute but not quite what I had in mind... Products I used are: Make Waves Paper PacketCardstock in Lagoon, White daisy, and Pixie Pansy InkSentiment from the Many Congratulations (C1693) stamp setFlowers cut using Cricut Flower Market and Art PhilosophyGold Sequins (currently on clearance!)

AHSC #250 Update

So this morning I was looking at my card for this weeks Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge and decided that it wasn't quite done.  I dug through my stamps as I knew I had one that was going to finish off my flower and found Love Blooms (C1511).  I stamped the image using Blossom ink and voila! Now it is finished.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #250!

I have been battling the dreaded winter sickness the past few weeks (thankfully, not the flu!) and I am still not better but nothing was going to keep me from participating in this weeks Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge!  We are at #250!  Feels like such a milestone and we are celebrating a little bit.  To join in the celebration next week I will be randomly drawing a name from those who play along with us for sketch #250 and sending the winner a little prize!
This weeks sketch from AHSC is a classic and I decided to turn the profile so that I could really showcase the beautiful paper from the CTMH paper packet, Gimme Some Sugar.  I just love the colours, the flowers, and the whole retro vibe of it.  I choose to use a rose silhouette found on the Cricut Flower Market Collection as my focal point and stamped it with Splash of Colour (D1733) in Bashful for the background and then stamped the Thank You in Peacock.  The Thank You can be found in this month's Stamp of the Month called

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #247

With only having a boy child I don't get to play with the "little girl" papers very much but we have a new little friend who's birthday party is this weekend and I got to make a girl card!  Using this week's sketch from Atlantic Hearts gave me a great prompt to get started especially given that I am not well (fever, headache, earache, etc.) and I am finding it very hard to concentrate.
Products I used for this card are Canary Cardstock which I embossed with a retired embossing folder, Make Waves Paper Packet, Make Waves Sequins & Gems, the sentiment is from the Birthday Sparkles stamp set stamped in Eggplant and I used Extra Thick Twine (in 2 retired colours) for my bow.  I finished off my card by painting the background embossed ridges with both Clear and the new Bashful Shimmer Brushes.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope I inspired you to come play along with us at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

Happy Crafting!

Happy New Year!

I got caught in the December time warp and honestly, I don't know what happened to the past few weeks!  I actually feel like I have lost time and any other time of the year I would probably be concerned for my health and be getting a CAT scan or something!  But that being said we had a lovely holiday break with lots Christmas, friends, family, and enjoying each other.

With time marching on so quickly I finally got around to using December's Stamp of the Month and it is perfect for Valentine's!

Using this week's super cute sketch from Atlantic Hearts I put together this quick Valentine's card. I started by pulling out my watercolours and quickly putting just a few colours, mostly yellow, light blue, and greens onto a piece of white daisy cardstock.  Once dried, I stamped the image several times using Charcoal ink.  I then cut them into 1x1 squares.

The background paper is from the Whimsy Fundamentals Collection from last year and I inked the edges in Juniper ink.  …
