Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #201

When I first saw the Hello Lovely Papers from CTMH I thought pretty but (ugh) more flowers!  I have a son so I am always wishing for more masculine/boy papers.  Anyways, once you look a little closer at this collection you are gifted with some amazing Art Deco designs straight out of the Great Gatsby!  My mum-in-law loves art deco design and I can't wait to show her this card, I am really happy how it turned out.

Following this week's sketch from Atlantic Hearts, I stuck very close to the sketch but did opt to leave the sentiment off as I really didn't want to cover up the paper.  For an added design element, I cut half an inch off the front of my card base and put the seafoam patterned paper on the inside of the card base.

Other products I used on this card are the Seaglass Cardstock, Rose Gold Foil Tape and a couple of gold sequins.  The flowers are from the Cricut Art Philosophy (retired) and Artiste (retired) Collections and the leaves are from the new Cricut Flower Market Collection.  I love that I was able to find flowers that mimic the art deco design of the patterned paper!
My picture does not do the papers justice.  I am currently looking for a better free photo editing program that has a bit more control over colour.  The program I was using isn't available anymore and I keep trying out different programs but am not happy yet!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #200!

Woo Hoo!  We hit 200 lovely sketches from AHSC.  Seriously where does the time go?  I remember when I did sketch #1 way back in April 2013 and applied to become part of the design team.  Little did I know that 4 years later I would still be part of this amazing team (LOL maybe they just can't get rid of me).

As always we have been provided with a great sketch this week and I really wanted to make this card clean and simple and try the white-on-white background that I have seen on other projects recently.

I did decide to turn the sketch during the creative process and used the lovely papers from CTMH's Hello Lovely Paper Packet.  The sentiment is from the Heartfelt Thoughts (C1661) stamp set stamped in Fern Ink. The pretty frame with the leaf cutout is from the Cricut Art Philosophy Collection (retired).  The white daisy cardstock background was embossed with the Simple Chevron embossing folder and I finished off my card with a few pieces of the Blush Shimmer Ribbon which has very pretty gold metallic tones in it!
I think I accomplished my goals of clean, simple and white-on-white background.  I am also going to submit this card to Color My Heart Color Dare #231.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #199

My house is slowly recovering from the Flu.  It always sounds like you are "under the weather for a few days and then right back to normal".  Wrong.  It was a full week of extreme illness and now a week later everyone still has very low energy, coughing, and a generally feeling of "off".  My poor husband is definitely the worse, I think this is due to him rarely getting sick whereas my son and I get the school sniffles all the time.  Maybe we built up some sort of resistance??

Anyways,  this weeks sketch from AHSC is a classic!  And a great way to showcase a few different patterned papers at the same time. I choose to work with the Dreamin' Big paper packet and the Dreamin' Big - Cardmaking (Z3303) coordinating stamp set that has really lovely sentiments and it that comes with thin cuts for super cute bugs like these butterflies.

Other products I used on this care are the Dreamin' Big Sequins, White & Gold Twine, black ink for the stamping, and juniper, poppy and saffron cardstock.
