Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #225

Recently I had a Facebook conversation with a lovely lady about card making, etc. and we were discussing Christmas cards... my response was "it's never to early to start creating Christmas cards!" and in celebration of that fact I present to you my first Christmas Card for 2017.  I actually got the idea for this card way back in March when I got my first sneak peak of the Jack Paper Collection and then I saw the bear in the Jack - Cardmaking Stamp and Thin Cuts. This weeks sketch from Atlantic Hearts seems to be the perfect time to make my idea into reality.

While I used the design for inspiration you can see that the design change slightly to accommodate my elements. I initially was going to have the Bear and tree on a background square like the sketch but it made it too heavy and distracted the eye, so instead I made my angled cross piece heavier and used White Glitter Paper to create some snow.

I carefully ripped the glitter paper to create the uneven edge of my snow and then took the ripped leftover piece and added it to the bottom of the straight edged when I put my card together.  This soften the straight edge (which just wasn't looking right) and I find further created the idea of  "snow".

The "Have A Cozy Christmas" is from last years Cricut City Sidewalks Collection (sadly retired) and seemed fitting given the bears hat, mug, and the plaid paper and the tree is from the brand new You Are Here Collection which I lightly added some glitter to the edges to with the Clear Shimmer Brush. The bear is created using the Jack Cardmaking stamp and Thin Cuts and stamped using Black and Ruby Inks.

For those who might not be aware the current Seasonal Expressions which features the Jack Paper and many, many wonder products is retiring in a few short weeks and all the products are now considered "While Supplies Last" so if you have been "thinkin' about it" don't delay as I would hate for you to be disappointed!

Thank you for stopping by and I truly appreciate your comments.  I hope I have inspired you to come play along with us at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

Happy Crafting!
