Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #134

Crazy storm day here on the West Coast. I love this weeks sketch from AHSC and wish that I had given myself more time to play or rather I wish my body had... I pinched a nerve in my low back a few weeks ago and well, it has really been limiting how long I can sit in my craft room and play.

I can honestly say I am not 100% happy with this card but I did have fun with my watercolour pencils colouring in my dinosaur and I love the super cute dino stamp set that he is from, it is called Darling Dinos (B1486). For my background I embossed my Pacifica Cardstock with the Confetti Embossing Folder which I then lightly sanded to bring out the white core. I stamped my sentiment and sponge distressed my card base using Sunset Ink. A few white enamel stars and some blue and green bitty sparkles from my stash and my super quick card is done.  I really like this sketch and can see myself using it again to make several scrapbook pages.
Thank you for visiting and I truly appreciate your comments. We hope we have inspired you to come play along with us at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

Cross Canada Blog Hop... November!

Welcome to our November Blog Hop featuring how we Prepare for Christmas.  To purchase any of the items seen in our blog hop today, contact your local consultant to place an order.

We hope that you will take the time to leave comments on our posts, as we love to get feedback from our viewers... whether it was something that you really liked or some new technique that was used that you would like to learn how to do... by leaving us comments, we get to hear what you like, and what you want to see. Thank you… now on to our hop!

If you have just hopped onto my blog, you can start here as this is a circular hop, but if you want to follow us across Canada then please start at the beginning and join Michelle at My Creations with MichelleIf you came from Kirstin of Crafty in the Country then you are in the right place!

Like many Close To My Heart Independent Consultants I prepare for Christmas by holding workshops helping others prepare for Christmas! If you are a regular reader of my blog you would have seen many of the cards that were made for my big Christmas Card Workshops and in a few weeks several of my crafty friends are going to be joining me for some Christmas inspired scrapbooking pages. I really like the layout featured in the White Pine Scrapbooking Workshop on the Go and recreated it with a few changes most notably is the paper, I used the white pine trees instead of the busier Christmas trees. I also stamped several acorns in chocolate ink and added them to the layout for extra contrast in the embellishments, highlighting them with clear sparkles. I also added several bitty sparkles to the Christmas tree for some extra bling.

Layout out #1 - Products used.  White Pines Workshop on the Go, Fern and Chocolate inkRed Enamel Gems, Clear Sparkles, all Cricut shapes are from the Cricut Artistry Collection

For my second layout I pulled out my trusty Make It from Your Heart Volume 1 choosing pattern 4 on page 12 to be my inspiration with a helpful cutting guide. The biggest challenge I have when creating pages like these is that I do not have the photo's taken yet and leaving blank spaces can be really hard. I had to keep reminding myself not to over embellish and fill in the blank spots as I am going to be adding photo's!

Layout #2, Products used. White Pines Paper, Kraft Paper which I embossed with the Bark embossing folder, Glacier cardstock, White Pines Compliments for Momma and Baby Deer, snowflakes, trees and gifts, Gold Bling Gems, Green Shimmer Trim, Gold Foil Tape and I decided to use Gold Twine from the Twinery (because I have a whole bunch of it and I really like how it looks on these Pages). Merry Christmas is from Cricut Artbooking Collection cut out on Kraft paper and the saying across the Glacier boxes is from the zip strip from the top of the paper.

I am the last stop on your trip across Canada but if you are still completing your trip you are now headed all the way over to Halifax to visit with Michelle of My Creations with Michelle.

Thanks for hopping along with us - we hope we were able to inspire you to get creative using some of the designs, products and techniques seen along the way. We hope you will join us again next month when we will be feature Where we create. So mark December 15th on your calendars and hop along with us.

Love Penguins (seriously who doesn't?!) I designed this card for my Christmas Card Workshops and I can happily say it has been one of the favorites so far this year. The card base is Slate cardstock and the tag cut is from Cricut Art Philosophy, cut at 4.5". The patterned background paper is from the White Pine Paper collection and the stamped snowflakes, penguins and the sentiment inside the card are from the Season's Greetings (B1483) stamp set and stamped in Lagoon and Black ink.

After I stamped and fussy cut out the penguins I coloured in the scarf and hat accents using my Lagoon Alcohol Marker which is a retired CTMH product but we do have the Shin Han Markers available and the Turquoise Blue would also be a great match. I used the retired CTMH marker as I lent my Shin Han markers to my mom because she colours her images way more than I do. As I stamped my penguins using dye ink I was very careful to try not to touch the black while I coloured as dye ink will bleed, if I was doing more colouring I would have used a pigment or permanent ink.

To finish off my card I added a bow using Glacier Extra Thick Twine, a strip of Silver Foil Tape and White Shimmer Trim and the big snowflake is from the White Pines Complements.

Thank you for stopping by and I truly appreciate your comments.
