Complements

When I first saw the sticker sheets that come in the White Pines Complements I knew I had to do a card using the singing animals and the MOOSE!  These cards actually went thru several variations until I found the right combo of elements. The problem was I wanted to show off the super cute animals but the background couldn't be too busy or they would get lost. The solution turned out to be creating my own background and I used the cute little star from the Festive Trees (B1493) stamp set. This is a hostess rewards stamp and I also use it for my sentiments on both cards. I random stamped the stars, the sentiments and sponge distressed the banners using Glacier ink.
Other products I used are White Pines Paper Packet for my little banners, Red Shimmer Trim, Gold Foil Tape and the green strip and blue holly and berries strip are from the compliment sticker sheets.

White Pines Compliments (not all shown)
About the compliments... I love them! When it was announced that they were changing the compliments I was excited because CTMH always gives us great product to work with. All the compliments packets now feature the 2 6x6 sticker sheets and a separate packet of goodies that typically contains printed Kraft die-cuts (like the trees on both these cards) and it also has either printed vellum die-cuts, chipboard or printed plastic die-cuts that all coordinate with the theme of the paper packet.

For my Christmas Card workshops I am including a compliments packet with each kit and so far everyone has been very happy with them and they are going home with a ton of extra's to use on other projects.

A La Vie & Poppy Christmas

For today's Christmas card reveal... La Vie en Rose and Poppy! Do the design look familiar?? I have used it before but it comes from Make It from Your Heart Volume 2, Pattern 28. I love all the how to books from CTMH. They are a great source to help jump start the creative mojo.

The La Vie en Rose Paper Packet is lovely and fully of drama as I always find black and white to be so striking. For this card I paired the quartrefoil patterned papers from La Vie with a new colour called Poppy, which I embossed using the Quatrefoil Embossing Folder and lightly sanded it to bring out the white core. For some sparkle and to add more colour I then added the Coral Shimmer Trim (on a Slate cardstock base) and a few of the pretty flowers from the White Pine Complements. The white daisy piece was cut from the Cricut Art Philosophy Collection and the sentiment is from the Pear & Partridge Scrabooking WOTG from a few years ago.  I try not to use retired sentiments and stamps in my workshops but this one just fit the card perfectly.

I am going to submit this card to Color My Heart Color Dare #165 which is to use Ruby, Slate, Black and Whisper. I did use Poppy instead of Ruby and no Whisper but... I think it should be ok.

Kraft Christmas

I seem to have a love of Kraft Paper and really like to use it whenever I can. I recently designed this card for my big Christmas Card Workshops and I LOVE the Wood Grain Embossing Folder with the Kraft Paper.

The lovely sentiment and holly leaves are from CTMH's White Pines Scrapbooking Workshop on the Go stamp set and was stamped using Topiary Ink. All the shapes are from the Cricut Artistry Collection and the patterned paper is from the White Pines Paper Packet. I finished this card off with a few bitty sparkles and Red Enamel Gems.

Clean, simple and lovely.

My bad!

I totally forgot that this week was one of my weeks to create with Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. In my defense I have been very busy creating, cutting, sorting, counting, re counting, double checking and finalizing all the details for my upcoming Christmas Card Workshops.  These workshops are huge in that my crafting friends are creating 20 cards (2 each of 10 designs) that I have designed and pre-cut, etc. for them. Some of my regular crafters call this annual workshop our yearly epic event and they do work hard!

Three of the cards for this years workshop are from CTMH's White Pines Cardmaking Workshop on the go.  I like to use the WOTG's as a starting point and of course I love that I can make the cards cards my own... some years I change the cards a lot and other years not so much.  This year, not so much.
CTMH's White Pines WOTG Samples

I re created this card with just a few extra's, instead of stapling the Fern Extra Thick Twine, I knotted it.  I also added one of the little Kraft Paper Birds from the White Pines Complements. To finish off the cards I added a few bitty spakes and a few of the Red Enamel Gems.
For this card I switched out the Cranberry Cardstock and Ink for Ruby.  I dry embossed the ruby cardstock with the stripes Embossing Folder.  I also made the White Daisy and Fern (new colour!) cardstock pieces smaller as they just seemed to big to me and it also allowed me to add a few of the Kraft Snowflakes from the White Pines Complements.
For this card I switched out the Fern and Cranberry Cardstock and for Olive (retired colour) and Pomegranate (new colour)! I heavily sponge ink distressed the white daisy base and cardstock with Champagne ink to give it a more antique look and decided to leave off the Fern Extra Thick Twine. I also added a few larger sparkles and a dark red Enamel Gem to my star.

I Melded!

Last month I upgraded to a Cricut Explore Air and honestly I was very hesitant to do it but my poor Cricut Expression 2 was just done, I create a lot of workshops and that machine has seen some heavy use over the past few years. Why was I hesitant? Well I wasn't sure if having to upload my cartridges to the Cricut Design Space was a good idea, what if they don't load and how will I find what I want and what if the internet is down and how long will it take? Seriously what if I just want to cut a quick circle.. will it take 20 minutes to load everything? Well, I am happy to say most of my worries have been appeased. It does take a few minutes to load the program and find what design I want to cut but the program is super user friendly and as I play with it I am getting more confident.

So, I am in the midst of working on my big annual Christmas Card Workshop and I wanted to use a Christmas ornament overlay from CTMH. I thought it would work with October's SOTM, Twinkle. Well it didn't but I had this card idea that I really wanted to create. The solution... I learned how to meld images together in Cricut Design Space. It is a bit of a process so I won't go into great detail but the basic are you import your images, tweak them till you are happy, select all and then select "meld". You have to make sure that your images are touching or connected in some way for them to become one image but that is how I created this frame with the Christmas ornaments hanging from it!

Every year for my Christmas Card Workshop I create a non traditional coloured card and most years it turns out to be known as "the pink card" and so introducing this years pink card...

I used Colonial White as my base colour and Thistle cardstock for my overlay (which are all CTMH images that I melded together!), Eggplant and Thistle ink were used for the stamping. This is my first creation using the new Eggplant colour and I like it! The pretty little gold and cream bow is made using twine from The Twinery and the gold circle accents I made using Gold Shimmer Trim and my Crop-a-Dile.

I am really happy with the end result. I love how clean and simple it is, unfortunately my picture makes the Thistle colour way more purple than it's true colour... I keep playing with different photo editing programs but I just can't seem to find one I like or fits in my budget! I will keep trying.

Atlantic Hearts #128

This week my husband needs as special card for work as one of the senior executives just got some new twin grand-babies. Now all new babies are special but twins is just amazing. So using this weeks AHSC and the lovely Georgie paper packet from CTMH, I came up with this super cute card. I decided to give myself a bigger work area than normal and made this card a 5x7. I wanted to use the adorable Pram card cut-out from the Cricut Artfully Sent Collection and didn't want it to be super small or for the card to look crowded. I really like the Artfully Sent Collection in that it has designs for Picture My Life "cards" that can be used in pocket scrapbooking but also can give some really neat embellishment and focal point on cards.
Other products I used were the Cricut Artistry Collection for the oval shape and the sentiment is also from the this collection and called Love Right Now (D1682). I used Juniper ink for the sentiment and Slate for some edge distressing. Slate cardstock was used for my base and I sanded it for some added texture. I am in love with the new Aqua Shimmer Trim and I finished off this card with a few sequins from the Ocean and Coral collections (both are now retired but Coral can still be found in While Supplies Last) topped with with a few clear sparkles and my card is done.

Thank you for stopping by and I truly appreciate your comments. Please follow the link to check out all the great artwork submitted to the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. I hope you get inspired and decide to come play along. We love to see what you create and you might get voted as one of the top 3 picks of the week.
