Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #74

We are back at school!  So exciting for us here in BC, while many will agree the contact isn't perfect it does get our kids and their teachers back in the classroom with hopefully many positive changes to come in the next few years. Time will tell and for now I am happy that my son is excited to be going to Grade One.

With this in mind I decided to make his teacher a card for this Friday afternoon to congratulate her survival of not only a lengthy job action but the first week back with a room full of first graders who had 5 extra weeks of summer...

Using this weeks sketch from Atlantic Hearts, the Chalk It Up  paper packet and the stamp set from the Chalk It Up Workshop on the Go. I made this super fun and for me, super busy card. This is also a 6x6 size card which is much larger than I typically make but I really wanted to use the "Life is good" stamp.

Other products for this card are White Enamel Stars, Black Arrow Washi Tape, Chalk it Up Assortment (which are puffy stickers! as a child of the 80's puffy stickers rock!), the twine is from the Twinery and the black polka dot star is from my stash. I also got to use my Chevron Border Punch along the bottom of the card. Inks used are Lagoon, Flaxen and Black.  A few sparkles and I think my crazy card is done.  I hope she likes it!

Thank you for stopping by and I truly appreciate your comments.  Follow the link to check out all the great artwork submitted to the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. I hope you get inspired and decide to come play along.  We would love to see what you create and you might get voted as one of the top 3 cards of the week.

Cross Canada Blog Hop... September!

Welcome to our September Blog Hop featuring our Favorite New Things.  To purchase any of the items seen in our blog hop today, contact your local consultant to place an order.

We hope that you will take the time to leave comments on our posts, as we love to get feedback from our viewers....whether it was something that you really liked or some new technique that was used that you would like to learn how to do....by leaving us comments, we get to hear what you like, and what you want to see. Thank you… now on to our hop!

If you have just hopped onto my blog, you can start here as this is a circular hop, but if you want to follow us across Canada then please start at the beginning and join Julie at 12x12travels.blogspot.ca. If you came from Kristine of homewithstudiok.com then you are in the right place!

To pick any one favorite thing in the New Idea Book is a very, very hard task as with everyone else "I love it all!"  but right now I am loving the Cardmaking Workshops On The Go's (aka WOTG).  In this idea book Cardmaking WOTG's have been created for Pathfinding and  Snowhaven.

The kits are wonderful in that you get everything you need to make 15 cards including a full colour instruction booklet and embellishments. But what I really love about these WOTG is the stamp set. They not only give you what you need to complete the cards as per the instructions but you get several extra images to inspire you to change the cards and make them yours. I love that I can "go rogue" as a friend likes to say and make each card unique.
For each of these cards I did start with the base designs from the instructions and then turned them into something a little more "me".

I think this is my very favorite thing about Close To My Heart in general, they not only give us great products to work with but lots of samples, examples, recipes, how-to's and instructions to stimulate our creative mojo. So often I start out wanting to recreate a project that has been provided by Jeanette and the wonderful design department at CTMH and the next thing I know I have gone rogue and made it mine.

I am the very last "stop" on this hop across Canada but if you are still completing the circle your next stop is back at the beginning in St. John's, Newfoundland  with Julie of  12x12travels.blogspot.ca  If you get lost along the way, you can head to Michelle S Blog, http://mycreationswithmichelle.blogspot.ca, as she has the complete blog list.

Thanks for hopping along with us - we hope we were able to inspire you to get creative using some of the designs, products and techniques seen along the way. We hope you will join us again next month when we will be featuring Trick or Treats, for Halloween. So mark October 15th on your calendars and hop along with us.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #72

Whew! been a very busy day with a very demanding 6 year old and I didn't know if I was going to make this deadline! While I totally support the teachers during this strike I REALLY need my kid back in school ASAP!  He is just really bored, even with my attempts to come up with fun things to do and some days (like today) he just wants/needs all my attention whereas other days I barely see him unless.

Anyways, as always this weeks sketch from Atlantic Hearts is sooo super cute and I wish I had given myself a bit longer to play but I did come up with a super cute card (in my opinion).
Using the Chalk It Up Paper Packet and the Mini size stamps
Happy Birthday  and Shooting Star. I literally put this card together in 20 minutes, fussy cutting included!

Other products used are the new Flaxen Ink with the much loved Sorbet and Lagoon for the stamped images and I did edge the papers using Flaxen.

The cardstocks used are also in Lagoon and Sorbet. I did sand both of the base pieces using the heaviest grit on our sanding block to distress them and give them a bit of texture.  I finished off the card with a few of the new Enamel Stars, that can be coloured with the Shin-han Alcohol Markers and I did try it on the blue star in the center but I am going to have to play with the technique to learn how to get a more even coverage.  A few bitty sparkles and I called this quick Birthday card done!

#30yearsofhappy!

Over the past several months we have been celebrating our founder & CEO Jeanette Lynton's 30 years in the industry, so to continue this celebration and to honour National Stamping Month (September) CTMH has created this super cute stamp set of 30 little mini stamps! And when I say cute I mean CUTE!

This morning I decided to get crafty with this stamp set and quickly came up with two 3x3 cards.  I think the hardest part of the cards was deciding which stamps to use and I did stamp most of them in different colours to see which would work best.
Products I used for this card:

- Colonial White cardstock for the base and stamped banner
- Kraft Cardstock
- Pathfinding Paper Packet (love using up all my little scraps from other projects on quick cards!)
- Chocolate and Goldrush Ink
Products I used for this card:

-Colonial White Cardstock for the base
- Sunset Chevron Washi Tape! And yes, I did do the reverse pattern on purpose!
- Kraft Cardstock
- Pear Ink for my camera!

A few Close To My Heart Consultants are having a month long blog hop/link up for all the many creations that are going to be made with this super cute stamp set and I am going to link these cards up.  I hope you have a few minutes to check out some of the other artwork as it is amazing (as always!).

Thank you for stopping by and I truly appreciate your comments!
