Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #88

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!  I was planning on doing some posts during the past few weeks but....  yeah. Time just goes so quickly and I cannot believe that Santa has come and gone and we are getting ready for the new year. With the new year comes some birthdays and I wanted to make a pretty card for the first birthday of the new year that we celebrate. Happy Birthday Ursula!
This weeks design challenge from Atlantic Hearts was perfect (of course) to help me get started. As you can see I really followed the design on this one! I made my card base to be 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 for a change and it created an nice frame for my butterfly's. To create this card I used the oh so pretty papers from the Brushed paper packet and the lovely butterfly's from Your Own Kind of Wonderful (D1627) stamp set. For the stamping I used Thistle and Pixie Ink and I swiped all the edges with Thistle for added dimension. I surprised myself in that no coloured cardstock was used in the making of …

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge # 86

Hello My Crafty Friends! Did you miss me?? Bet you didn't even notice I was missing...  So in early November I realized I needed to take a little break from the craft room and today seemed like a good day to get back at it. And oh! what a great sketch from Atlantic Hearts to help me get back in the groove!
Like everyone I am in the "Christmas is coming too quickly" mode and still need a few cards. Using the the Make It Merry (D1617) stamp set and the wonderful patterned paper from the Snowhaven Paper Packet this card came together quickly. I love the Snowhaven papers they are just so much fun!
To give an extra layer of colour (and a bit of pop) I chose Topiary cardstock and I used Cranberry to paper piece the body of my scooter. A few green sparkles from my stash, some green Glitter Glitz Gel (still sad that this product is retired!) and a piece of cranberry twine tied in a bow and my card is done!
Thank you for stopping by and I truly appreciate your comments. Follow th…

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #80!

Keep my child home today because he had a mild fever and a cough.  About half way thru the day I wondered what I was thinking!  He drove me nuts all day.  I am a firm believer that if your kid had a fever keep them home but he really wasn't that sick.  The fever seems to have broken and hopefully I get back to my regularly scheduled programing tomorrow!
Super cute sketch from Atlantic Hearts this week and I wanted to create using November's Stamp of the Month "It's the Little Things".  Building flowers is just so much fun and strangely therapeutic.  My goal with this card was also to play with some of the new ink colours because they are just so pretty.   So I may have gotten a little over zealous with my layered flowers compared to the sketch but I like it!  The colours I used for the flowers were Thistle, Pixie, Gypsy and Canary. And I used Pear for the leaves.  The very cute polka dot patterned paper is from the Confetti Wishes Paper Packet and so is the Happy…

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #78!

Christmas Cards!  I have been very busy working on my big Christmas Card Workshop and it never sounds like much work until you do the math, 10 designs done 2 times each x 20 people = a whole lotta paper being cut and embellishments being counted out and everything being triple counted because I would hate for anyone to be missing anything! The first of 3 classes starts on Friday and I am in the home stretch for getting it all ready but the last card always gives me trouble, thankfully this weeks sketch from Atlantic Hearts came to the rescue.
As always, super cute design and I decided I to do a retro Christmas type of card. I wanted to use these wonderful 6x6 Kraft Paper Cards that have a scalloped edged flap, they are a retired product from Close To My Heart but oh so fun! On this card I also used the retired Olive Mini Medley that can still be found on While Supplies Last. I love Mini Medley's and I am glad we still have several options available, they make it so easy to embell…

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #76

What a weird day!  And I am so relieved that I got my card done because I wasn't sure if it was going to happen...  my mojo and decision making skills were not working in tandem today.
I LOVE this sketch and I know I will be using it again in the future.  So simple and yet not.  I found it surprisingly hard to find stamps that were small enough to do a collage on a card.  I honestly tried several variations that just didn't work out for me today.  I think it is also all the white space which can be a challenge to leave "blank" and a big part of me always wants to add something.
Once I finally started making decisions that my mojo liked, I decided that this card would be very "clean and simple" and I would try to only use one neutral with one or two added colours.
So, keeping that in mind I used only Colonial White Cardstock, Thistle Ink and Glitter Paper from the Teal and Purple packets.  The Happy Holidays sentiment is from the Perfect Fit - Holidays sta…

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #74

We are back at school!  So exciting for us here in BC, while many will agree the contact isn't perfect it does get our kids and their teachers back in the classroom with hopefully many positive changes to come in the next few years. Time will tell and for now I am happy that my son is excited to be going to Grade One.
With this in mind I decided to make his teacher a card for this Friday afternoon to congratulate her survival of not only a lengthy job action but the first week back with a room full of first graders who had 5 extra weeks of summer...
Using this weeks sketch from Atlantic Hearts, the Chalk It Up  paper packet and the stamp set from the Chalk It Up Workshop on the Go. I made this super fun and for me, super busy card. This is also a 6x6 size card which is much larger than I typically make but I really wanted to use the "Life is good" stamp.
Other products for this card are White Enamel Stars, Black Arrow Washi Tape, Chalk it Up Assortment (which are puffy s…

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #72

Whew! been a very busy day with a very demanding 6 year old and I didn't know if I was going to make this deadline! While I totally support the teachers during this strike I REALLY need my kid back in school ASAP!  He is just really bored, even with my attempts to come up with fun things to do and some days (like today) he just wants/needs all my attention whereas other days I barely see him unless.
Anyways, as always this weeks sketch from Atlantic Hearts is sooo super cute and I wish I had given myself a bit longer to play but I did come up with a super cute card (in my opinion).  Using the Chalk It Up Paper Packet and the Mini size stamps Happy Birthday  and Shooting Star. I literally put this card together in 20 minutes, fussy cutting included!
Other products used are the new Flaxen Ink with the much loved Sorbet and Lagoon for the stamped images and I did edge the papers using Flaxen.
The cardstocks used are also in Lagoon and Sorbet. I did sand both of the base pieces usin…

Over the past several months we have been celebrating our founder & CEO Jeanette Lynton's 30 years in the industry, so to continue this celebration and to honour National Stamping Month (September) CTMH has created this super cute stamp set of 30 little mini stamps! And when I say cute I mean CUTE!
This morning I decided to get crafty with this stamp set and quickly came up with two 3x3 cards.  I think the hardest part of the cards was deciding which stamps to use and I did stamp most of them in different colours to see which would work best.  Products I used for this card:
- Colonial White cardstock for the base and stamped banner - Kraft Cardstock - Pathfinding Paper Packet (love using up all my little scraps from other projects on quick cards!) - Chocolate and Goldrush Ink - Gold Sequins  Products I used for this card:
-Colonial White Cardstock for the base - Sunset Chevron Washi Tape! And yes, I did do the reverse pattern on purpose! - Kraft Cardstock - Aqua Dots - Pear I…

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #70

Last weekend I got to go the Rediscover CTMH event in Vancouver and had a great time! I finally got to meet several consultants that I chat with on a regular basis and got to hang out with my friend and CTMH downline Karen for a couple of days. So much fun and I won an award! I had the Top Sales on my CTMH OBA, (which is my CTMH online sales site) to say that I was surprised is probably the biggest understatement of the year and I would like to thank all my customers because without them shopping I wouldn't have won this award!
Onwards to this weeks challenge for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Are you loving all the new artwork that is being featured??? We have had several very crafty and talented ladies join our design team for the next several months and I am so enjoying their art.
For this weeks challenge I did decide to do a card (I know I usually do!) and I was feeling the Christmas vibe. So using the Yuletide Carol Scrapbooking Workshop on the Go, I made this very Merry…
