Wedding Fair

Next Tuesday, March 5th I will have a booth at the 2013 Bridal and Graduation Fair here in Port Alberni!

I am excited to show off  a few of my favorite Close To My Heart products and what you can make with them. Hopefully I will give a few brides the inspiration to make their own or have me make their invitations, decor, table centers, gift boxes and... the list could go on and on!

Using the For Always paper packet
and my Cricut Artiste I made this beautiful bracket frame!  Add a few sparkles, some Sparkle Flourishes and viola, a pretty way to remember that special day.  I have created it so that the Mr & Mrs. can be removed easily and replaced with your favorite photo.
I look forward to seeing you at the Fair!

Cross Canada Blog Hop... February!

Welcome to our February Blog Hop featuring a 2 page layout. This is the first Blog Hop for us where we have featured just scrapbook layouts. We hope that you will take the time to leave comments on our posts, as we love to get feedback from our viewers....whether it was something that you really liked or some new technique that was used that you would like to learn how to do....by leaving us comments, we get to hear what you like, and what you want to see. Thank you… now on to our hop!

If you have just hopped onto my blog, you can start here as this is a circular hop, but if you want to follow us across Canada then please start at the beginning and join Michelle at  http://mycreationswithmichelle.blogspot.ca  If you came from Nancy Klein's blog then you are in the right place!

I was going to create this layout using the "Scholastic Papers" but while I was searching for it my horde collection of papers I came across my stash of "Typeset" (now retired) and just loved how the colours just worked so well with my son's preschool photos!  So now not only is it a 2 page layout but a "scrap your stash!"

I decided to keep the layout "clean" in that I didn't distress/sand/ink all the papers and resisted the urge to bling it up!  I love how the Creme Brulee cardstock along with juniper, bamboo and vineyard berry really bring out all the colours in the photo's. This years picture hasn't been taken yet but I know it will fit nicely into the layout once it arrives.

For the embellishments on this layout I used the Typeset My Reflections Complements Canvas Adhesive Sheets for the adorable little stars, the "a & r cards" and the vineyard berry chevron along the bottom of the pages.  I love how Close To My Heart always creates perfect complements and accessories for every paper packet!  A new product that I used on this layout was the Color-Ready Noted Canvas Shapes, I was hesitant to stamp the numbers on the little banners at first... (stamping on canvas! what if I mess up?!?!) but they took the ink beautifully.  Stamps sets I used in this layout are Token Alphabet for the Title, Capture the Date (which was last November's Stamp of the Month) for the numbers and  Hodgepodge Alphabet (now retired) for the names of the preschools.

Your next stop on the Cross Canada Hop is Michelle of Twirl 'n Time  If you get lost along the way, you can head to Michelle S Blog, http://mycreationswithmichelle.blogspot.ca, as she has the complete blog list.

Thanks for hopping along with us - we hope we were able to inspire you to create your own scrapbook layouts using some of the designs and paper seen along the way. Join us again in March when we will be featuring our new 5x7 Hinged Display Tray.

Happy Crafting!

Happy Valentine's Day!

My son and I made some cute little butterfly valentine's for his preschool class and he said "can we put it on the blog?!"  Seriously!  5 years old and he wants to blog...

He helped with pretty much every step of this little project.  From hitting the cut button on the cricut for the butterfly shapes to all the stamping.  I just kept switching out the butterfly's to make sure everyone got a few stamps on it.  We found the "crayon" bubbles for the bodies in the party section at Walmart and I did glue those on for him. I had asked him to print his name but he gave me the look of "Mom, that's way too much work!" so I got to use the pen!

Initially I had thought we might add some glitter or glue on some shapes but he informed me they were finished after the stamping...

Happy Valentine's Day!

Fabulous Birthday Fun!

It was my son's 5th Birthday yesterday and I spent the last week or so making "Angry Birds" (to be said in a loud booming voice!)  I have to thank Pinterest for making it so easy to find a ton of ideas and the links to Free Angry Birds printables online! which cut out the need to create everything from scratch!

Using the free clip-art I was able to theme up my invitations, banners, balloons, games and take home treats!

A few pictures from the Angry Birds extravaganza...

"Who's Your Valentine"in disguise! So super cute and we even had some golden eggs in there...

Pin the Tail on the Red Bird!
Piggy Bowling!

Cutest Green Piggy Ever!

I think everything turned out really well and I am happy to say our son was feeling the Angry Bird love! We decorated the house before we went to bed and my favorite moment was first thing yesterday morning when our son got up and I counted down to my husband 3, 2, 1... and we heard our favorite little voice whisper "wow, angry birds".

Yesterday was a great day and we were so blessed to have a house full of family and friends to celebrate with us! I did learn a few things...a) that we could fit that many people into our current abode and b) that several small children stomping on bubble wrap could be that LOUD!

And last but not least A very special Thank You to my Mom who made the coolest Angry Bird cupcakes!
