Atlantic Heart Sketch Challenge #7

Wow!  Sketch #7 already!  Time flies when we are having fun and once again Michelle of AHSC has created a clean and simple sketch full of possibilities.

This week I choose to work with the "Later Sk8r" paper packet and thought to try out a new (to me) technique.  As you know I have a fearless little boy who is greatly influenced by his fearless father and grandfather!  I saw the saying "I do my own stunts" in the Later Sk8r Workshop on the Go and thought it would make a great sentiment in a get well soon card.  Thankfully nobody in my family is currently injured and I sincerely hope that I never have to use this card!

I turned Michelle's sketch sideways and decided to make big fat pennants. I distressed all the edges with my sanding block and looked around for a more manly embellishment than a flower.

Currently on While Supplies Last you can get "Milepost Shapes" which are corrugated chipboard shapes in a neutral kraft paper colour and I recently purchased some Create-A-Shade™ Pearl Paint which is an acrylic paint that dries translucent.

I have seen/heard many people talk about mixing re-inker into the pearl paint to create your own shade!  I did just that and made pearled lagoon for my star and pear for my arrow.  I love how they turned out shiny, to me they look like painted tin.  Once dry, I did take my Outdoor Denim Pigment Ink and distressed the edges of these pieces and I also"kissed" the Pear pigment Ink on the a raised area of the arrow to give a bit more detail and contrast. I stamped my sentiment in the Outdoor Denim Pigment Ink AND I remember to do the inside as well!  (I always forget to do the inside of my cards...)  To finish off my card I tied a piece of Outdoor Denim Bakers Twine around my star and added a couple of the green epoxy bubbles.

I remembered to do the inside of the card!

  1. It's a great card, with lots of little details. I love it, and hope that you don't have to use it either.....but you have it if the need comes.
