Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #5

Super fun sketch from AHSC this week!  Oh the possibilities...

The first thing my husband said when he saw this sketch was "it looks like a patio deck", I think he was actually drinking a beer at the time which may have influenced his words as we would love to have a home with a back deck... and using that for  inspiration I dug thru my horde ahem, stash of papers and came across the very retro Surf's Up.

This paper packet is just so much fun and groovy!  I'm looking forward to going to the beach this summer just so that I can create layouts with it.

This last weekend I did two card workshops and for my workshops I always try to teach something new.  So for this workshop I decided we would try heat embossing, many of the ladies who attended had not tried embossing in the past and neither had I.  Thankfully I did a little R & D a few weeks ago and worked out the kinks and now that I have really  played with this technique I love the results!

So for this weeks card, using Pear Pigment Ink I stamped my stitched image from Stitched Together and then coated it with the clear embossing powder, a few minutes with the craft heating tool and viola!  shiny Pear stitches! I also, stamped the "hello sweet summer" (found in the Chantilly WOTG stamp set) in buttercup pigment ink and then used white daisy embossing powder on it.  I see a lot of heat embossing on future projects!  Think about it, all 40 pigment inks with the clear embossing powder, no need to buy any other powders!  The pigment inks are so vibrant and the clear embossing just makes them shine.

To get the pretty border on my surf board paper I used my Cricut Artiste, the image can be found on page 31 and it cuts out as a circle (like a doily).  I cut my circle at 6" and then trimmed it down to fit my card and give me the border I needed for this sketch.   I finished off my card by adding a few of the green and blue epoxy bubbles and a few dabs of my favorite Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel (this always seems to be just the right thing needed to finish off a project...) in the holes of my border to give a little sparkle and highlight the cuts.

And here is this weeks creation...
