Pear & Partridge Christmas Trees

I spent last weekend in lovely Qualicum Beach at the 16th Annual Silver Sleigh Craft Fair with my Mom. Over the past several weeks, we created all sorts of crafty goodies for our table and I whipped up a few of these adorable little Christmas Tree sets using Pear & Partridge paper, my Art Philosophy and Artist Cricut Collections, Cranberry and Olive Inks, the Merry & Bright Holiday stamp, burlap ribbon and a sparkle or two...

Once I finally decided what I wanted my Christmas Trees to look like they were really very straight forward to put together (it's all in the deciding what to do that seems to slow me down...)  Originally I had cut the tree shapes out in Pear & Partridge but once together they seems to need more contrast so I then cut them out in cranberry and olive card stock a 1/4" large then the Pear & Partridge, I then cut my original "trees" apart and mounted the triangles. (Creates a nice frame in my opinion). All the flowers were cut out u…

Found my Mojo on a Friday!

I love "Mojo Monday's" weekly card sketch challenge and for the past several weeks I haven't been able to participate given all the moving, traveling, child starting preschool, etc. etc. etc.  Ya know LIFE! I kept thinking I will get to it this week and nope but never fear this week I did it!
This weeks sketch from Mojo Monday is #261

and my creation is:
Not having enough time the past several weeks has also made it that I haven't been able to play with a whole bunch of new stamp sets from the Fall/Winter Idea Book. Well this will just not do, I have decided to get to work and play!

The fun stamp set I used on this card is called "Cup of Cheer" and I so love the coffee beans!  It made such a cute border and this card came together in just a couple of minutes.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend full of crafting!

I have also linked this card on Casual Fridays  CFC73:  For The Girls
and on Stamping Rules!: Friday Favorite Things

Avonlea Frame

In November our newly established Creative Club in Parksville will be creating this beautiful chipboard bracket frame featuring Close To My Heart's

Pear & Partridge

This Saturday I am hosting a Christmas Card and Tag workshop featuring the lovely Pear & Partridge from Close To My Heart.  When I first thought to do this workshop (my very first sold out, I did it all myself workshop), I though no problem I can create it all from scratch!  HAHAHA!  Little did I know that I would spend the last few weeks obsessing over so many little details.  I have cut out hundreds of little pieces of paper and my Cricut Art Philosophy and Artiste Collections have had a workout as well.

But... it's done.  I think the ladies who have honored me by deciding to attend will be pleased.  They will be creating 20 cards and 20 tags (2 each of 10 designs).  Some simple, some a little more involved all with the goal of getting it all done in a few short hours.  I for one am excited and hope I meet expectations!

I started with theWorkshops On The Go® Pear & Partridge Cardmaking Kit (love the stamp, love the paper!) and started creating from there.  I used many of…

Regional Convention

Next week I get to fly to Edmonton for a few days of Close To My Heart Business Classes, Creative Classes and meeting other consultants!  To say that I am a little excited is probably an understatement.  In preparation for a class on Studio J, Close To My Heart sent me a request to create five Studio J layouts on them!

They did requests that I follow some instructions, I needed to create two layouts from the "Express Collections", two layouts of my choice from the "new kit options" and one layout following some very detailed instructions.  Now, I have had very little exposure to digital scrap booking and I can see the draw although I still really like to touch the paper! Given that I have never used the program before I found  Studio J to be very user friendly.  I am looking forward to getting the printouts and will let you know what the finished product is like.

Another nice thing with Studio J is that with purchase you get a jpeg file of each layout.  So here are…

Cricut® Artiste!

My Cricut machine has a new cartridge!  A few weeks ago Close To My Heart released the new exclusive Cricut Artiste in the new Fall/Winter Idea Book. To say that all the consultants were excited was an understatement because Close To My Heart's first cartridge, Art Philosophy, is amazingly versatile and much loved by all.  We wondered and couldn't wait to see what they had come up with for the new one and I questioned if  Artiste would measure up to the beloved Art Philosophy.  They didn't disappoint.

For your viewing pleasure, a quick video produced by Close To My Heart to acquaint you with the Cricut Artiste.

retrosketches #22

Challenges, challenges, challenges I seem to love challenges!
Today's inspiration is from Retro Sketches...              And my offering....

I used paper scraps from "Stella" and stamped the background and sentiment in Lagoon Ink from the "Just for You" stamp set.  Finished off with a Badge Button in Pewter and resisted the urge to add more.  So had to resit the urge...

Country Sketch #1

A fellow Close To My Heart Consultant Terry Ann Diack at "It's my Garage -- I Can Craft In It!" has decided to start a bi-weekly "Challenge" and I decided to play along.

Her sketch for County Sketch #1                     (aptly named cause she lives in the country!)

and my take on the sketch

I wanted to try and make something a little more masculine than I usually do (seems I'm a girly-girl) and decided to use some of the "Cruisin" paper that is retiring in a few days.  The "For A Special" stamp and the Dimensional Elements shape (aka chipboard) that I stamped it on are both from the Cricut Art Philosophy Collection.  I swiped all the edges and stamped the sentiment using Cranberry Ink. A little of bit of black Baker's Twine and I made myself stop before I started using any bling or sparkles or ....

A little video sneak peak...

Project Inspiration 2012 Autumn/Winter Idea Book: Stepping Up Your Stamping

has it really been almost 2 months since my last post?!? how is this possible?  To say the least the last several weeks have been a blur, our big move to the little town went well, easy almost...  we are mostly unpacked and busy!  Lots of summer fun is in the works and we are enjoying every second of it!

I have been working in my new crafty space and the organization is well underway!  Have been using the "Stella" papers (love, love, love!) and  have a few pages almost finished and ready to show you.  This past week I have also been working on some "hello! we moved cards" to send to friends and family around the globe.

A few of you will find one of these in your mailbox soon...

I just had to use this little dog stamp somewhere and his hello! seemed perfect for this project.  It is officially called "A Bowwow" and is so cute! Other supplies used for these cards are paper from my stash, Twine from the Twinery, I cut the paper using my Cricut Art Philosophy

Thank You Bookmarks

With the big move happening in a few weeks, my son will be finishing his first year at Preschool.  I wanted to make a little something for all the teachers and aids in his program.  I saw these cute little bookmarks on Pinterest and found great directions with pictures here at Tallys Treasury. Wendy at Stamping Rules made some last Hallowe'en and they are super spooky!

So here is my finished product.  Cute and simple, just how I like it!

The paper used is from stash and I cut the flowers out on my cricut using my very favorite cartridge... you guessed it Art Philosophy!  I inked the edges and stamped the "Thank You" in Lagoon Ink (I love this colour!) and used twine from The Twinery in Caribbean for the bows.  Close To My Heart also has twine available is wonderful colours including Lagoon, I just happened to buy mine from The Twinery last year before it became available from Close To My Heart.

So Hip Hip Hooray! One more thing crossed off my endless list of things to…

I won an award!

How's that for a nice surprise?!  Joann at Jo's Scrap Shack has nominated me for a Liebster Award.  The origins of the Liebster Award are a little unclear but the general consensus is that it originated in Germany. Liebster means "favorite" or "dearest" and this is a peer to peer award to help showcase bloggers with less then 200 followers. Upon accepting the award the recipient must then pass it on to five more blogs of their choice.

I want to thank Joann for thinking of me and if you have a chance stop by her blog, she makes very pretty things outta paper!  My favorite!

Now here is what you do as a presenter of this award:  1. Thank your Liebster Blog Award presenter on your blog. 2. Link back to the blogger who presented the award to you. 3. Copy and paste the blog award on your blog. 4. Present the Liebster Blog Award to 5 blogs of 200 followers or less who you feel deserve it. 5. Let them know they have been chosen by leaving a comment at their blo…

how you been?

The last couple of weeks have just flown by for me and I have found that by the time I get down to the crafty space I am wiped out and decide to go to bed!  It has been very busy for me and my family and (big sigh) it's gonna get a whole lot busier...

Our big news is that my husband was offered a wonderful new job and we decided it would be silly not to take this opportunity the crazy part of it is the job is back in our "hometown" which is about 3 hours from where we currently live.  So a big move is a coming in a few weeks (I know didn't we just move....) and it's both exciting and a little terrifying at the same time.  It is going to be wonderful to be so close to soooo many people that we love and have them back in our lives everyday but I am not looking forward to the finding a new place to live and packing up all our junk and saying "see you soon" to the friends that we have here in Victoria.  It also feels just that little bit further away from a…

Sunday Afternoon

It's Sunday and I finally got to spend some time down in the craft room!  Last week was very busy with company and I had performances with The Allegra Singers.  I so love to sing! I live a very charmed life in that I am married to a wonderful man, have an amazing child and get to do things that make my soul happy like scrapbooking and singing! A very charmed life indeed.

Today's little creation was inspired by "Dynamic Duos" Challenge #1!  This is a brand new challenge blog where you create only using the colours they suggest and neutrals.  For the layout I decided to try Freshly Made Sketches #33 where the aim is to keep your project clean-lined and fresh.  I am also submitting this card to CAS-ual Fridays #51 in celebration of their first birthday.

I used Close To My Heart Pear and Lagoon for the colours and a scrap from my Dotty For You paper package (that wonderful $5 pack of paper is going to be used for a long, long time).  I also used my Art Philosophy Cricut…

Merry Monday on a Friday

On the blog "Always Playing with Paper" they have a weekly challenge called "Merry Monday" and the idea behind it is to get a head start on your Christmas cards...

I liked the simplicity of this weeks design so I dug out the box of Christmas supplies and created this little card in about 15 minutes.

When I say little I mean it!  The dimensions of this card are 2 1/2" by 5".  Once again I got to play with my new Close to My Heart Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge cutting out the metallic card stock, white circles and the red circle frames.

The metallic paper is from my "stash" and I am unsure where I originally purchased it and the stripped paper is from Close To My Heart's "Believe" paper packet from the Winter 2011 Idea Book.

I stamped the images and inked the edges using "Grey Wool" and hand coloured in using markers I have on hand. The stamps are from Close to My Heart and I used  Petite Perks W2016 and the "Merry C…
